Broken Then MEnded

Two one-act plays to be performed together.

Previously produced and workshopped by Makeshift Theatre.

Broken

A dying man sits in the dark, alone.

The peace of loneliness is shattered when his past confronts him head-on.

As a boy in Nazi Germany he had struggled with ethnic and moral order, for only a few years later to have the Jewish boy that had been his closest friend and lover brought to him as a prisoner.

The inevitable outcome could not have been more tragic or chilling, and now here they are, face-to-face again after all those years: replaying the nightmare all over again.

Mended

It is 1968, and the world is changing.

For one man those changes spell out the end.

Female Impersonator, and long forgotten personality, Mr. Gale sits among his things trying in his confusion, to understand just where it all went, before things started to change and his career waned.

Maybe a young friend, full of hope and good intentions can paint a less terrifying picture of the years to come.

Whether it be the final laying to rest of a career a long time dead, or a stroll into the sunset of sexual freedom.

One thing is for sure: change is definitely on the agenda.
